Aries & Leo: Joint Rulership is Nearly Impossible

Double fire. Different heat.
The sun sign Aries is all about fire expressed as movement, power, and assertiveness. Don’t be surprised if your crush likes kickboxing and throwing you against the wall during a kiss. Leo has fire as well, but it manifests as charisma, not force. People are drawn to Leo’s outer glow. Leo’s the star. People want to bask in his charms, drama, and theatrics. Leo’s fire is also one of love and warmth. While Leos are commanders like Aries, they differ in that they don’t like using their dominance to fight — unless absolutely necessary. They prefer to rule by keeping the peace and making everyone adore them.

The Good
You know the saying “Make Love not War?” Well, Aries people seduce by the motto “Make Love and War.” Don’t try an overly-gentle flirting ritual with them. They value aggression and there is no romance without hand-to-hand combat or competition of some sort.
And for all this spice they give, they appreciate a mate with a little spice in return. This makes Leo a fabulous match, since Leos are one of the most sensual and physical signs of the Zodiac.
They can handle the tactile, overbearing nature of Aries.

Plus, Aries gets a partner they will never ever find boring.
The Bad
But can Leo handle the Aries need to explore alone, focus on self, and dart about without warning in a million directions, some of them quite reckless? If the Aries fire is within, the Leo fire is without – an external beam that radiates and draws everyone into its audience.
That’s right, a lover for Leo must be an audience, ready to give praise for his talents – whether it’s his jokes, his dancing, the way he makes love (even if, for these traditionalists, it’s mostly in the missionary position).

That may not sit well with Aries who is not one to share anything with a crowd.

Also, if Aries’ impulsive nature keeps them away from the home, and more importantly the bed, too much, Leo will feel hurt, neglected and without his primary audience.

No one can pen an Aries down. And yet Leo is possessive and wants Aries all to himself. Problems can brew.

The biggest problem is deciding who’s in charge. Since both Aries and Leos are leaders, they might butt heads. However, the saavy can find a way to blend leadership styles because they are so different. For example, Leo is inherently a figurehead commander. They like to set the vision, have the glory, then sit back and relax. Aries on the other hand, likes to constantly initiate and directly handle everything – even daily mundane activities which Leo will have no interest in. He could be content to sit back and let Aries run the show if she respects his overall management.

Leos understand the fiery passion of Aries as both are fire signs. The danger here is that the couple can become two enflamed with a range of emotions – whether rage, deadly passion, or jeolousy.

Sexual chemistry
Leo and Aries are both passionate lovers, but the leadership issues will follow them into the bedroom. Aries might mount, only to moments later find themselves hitting the mattress as Leo usurps control and puts them in a subordinate position. Ooh, this could fun.

Leo finds comfort in tradition, but Aries can push them to spontaenously try something new from the Kama Sutra. Aries will slow Aries down for a lovemaking session that lasts for hours.

Long-term Outlook
Aries and Leo might both feel neglected over time as each needs absolute control and a strongly stroked ego. It won’t be long before each roams to find someone who can make them number one and stop competing with them.
